Travel Information

Visitors entering Canada must present a valid passports and, in certain areas, a visa. It is strongly recommended that you carry your passport with you at all times for identity purposes. When making your arrangements to travel to Canada, it is important to state that you are traveling to attend a scientific conference. The requirements for traveling for business purposes are more involved than traveling to attend a conference.

Traveling to Canada from the United States

Passports are required for all United States citizens traveling to Canada. Check your passport to ensure it is current. More details about travel to Canada can be found here.

Travel Visas

Please be aware that conference participants from particular countries are required to have a Visa to enter Canada. Visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website to access a list of countries that require a Visa.

If you require a Visa, please apply for a Tourist Visa. Please note that depending on where you are traveling from it can take up to two months to process a VISA application, longer if the application is not complete. The timing may vary based on where you apply for your VISA. Please start the process early to ensure you will have everything you need before the meeting.

Air, Car, and Ground Transportation

Airports

The Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau (YUL) International Airport is located approximately 12 miles/20 kilometers from Le Westin Montréal and the InterContinental Montréal hotels. These hotels do not provide shuttle service. An estimated taxi fare: $40CAD (one way) and takes approximately 20 minutes without traffic.

Ground Transportation

  1. 747 Express Bus—The 747 bus line service runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, between the Montréal-Trudeau airport and downtown Montréal (corner of Berri and Sainte-Catherine-Berri-UQAM métro station).
  1. Taxi—You can get a taxi or limousine at the arrivals level near the central exit located in front of the cloakroom, where a dispatcher will assist you. No reservation is required. All taxi and limousine operators working out of Montréal–Trudeau are required to have a permit and to comply with its terms and conditions. Occasionally, during periods of excessive demand, Aéroports de Montréal may call an outside operator.
