About Minneapolis, Minnesota

The city of Minneapolis offers a variety of sights and activities, including the sculpture garden at the Walker Art Center, literature and architecture at the Minneapolis Central Library, and shopping for internationally-themed groceries, food, and unique gifts at Midtown Global Market. The famed Mall of America, featuring 520 stores, 50 restaurants, and other attractions, is located in Bloomington, Minnesota—only 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. Minnesota does not charge sales tax on clothing or shoes!

Transportation

Less than a three-hour flight from most US cities and just minutes from downtown with access to the METRO Blue Line, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is served by 13 commercial passenger airlines. Explore the city via train, bus, cab, or car share. The MetroTransit website provides trip planning, routes and schedules, and fare information for buses and trains.

Minneapolis is also walkable by ground or by Skyway. The Skyway is a system of enclosed footbridges from building to building that allow pedestrians to get around the city in a climate-controlled environment. Note that the Skyway is not open 24/7—most locations close by 10:00 pm on weekdays, and earlier on weekends. Maps can be found Minneapolis.org and MinneapolisMN.gov, or by completing an Internet search.
